Semi Permanent Mascara Frequently asked Questions

Who is SPM suitable for?

SPM is ideal if you like a natural look and have good quality lashes which look good when you apply normal mascara. It is also perfect if you have fair natural lashes, have difficulty applying mascara due to poor eyesight or want a more professional finish.  If you have fine, sparse or short lashes we would strongly recommend lash extensions instead as it is unlikely that the SPM will be able to create the look you desire even if you only want a natural enhancement. SPM can be worn by anyone who has natural lashes. It is therefore not suitable for anyone experiencing hair loss that has affected their eyelashes.

Is this a replacement for lash extensions?

No, it is mascara that is semi permanent. It will look like perfectly applied mascara that is waterproof, adds curl and volume. However, it cannot add as much length and volume as can be achieved with lash extensions, especially if natural lashes are very short, fine or sparse.

Is it the same as lash tinting?

No, SPM is a coating that will add volume and curl. Tinting will just add colour to the natural lashes but will not give a mascara finish.

Can you create a very thick full mascara look?

Although a thick full look can be achieved, it is not recommended. Due to the nature of the treatment some of the natural lashes are fused together by the coating and if it is applied too thickly it feels uncomfortable to the wearer and could cause damage if not correctly cared for. If a very thick mascara look is required, then eyelash extensions would be recommended instead.

Can I go swimming?

After the initial treatment you cannot get the SPM wet for 24 hours. After this time is it completely waterproof so you can swim and shower as normal, making it ideal for beach holidays.

How long will it last?

The coating will last 2-4 weeks and slowly wears off. Our water based mascara can be worn to touch up when the coating is wearing off. You must not apply non water based mascara as it is likely to cause the lashes to clump together.

Can it be removed?

Yes the coating can easily be removed using a cream remover. A new coating can then be applied or lashes can remain bare.

What is the aftercare?

You must not get the coating wet for 24 hours but after this time it will be completely waterproof. Do not use any oil based products or cleansers directly on your lashes as this can damage the coating. Do not rub, pick or pull at the coating as this could result in damage to your natural lashes.

It is important to keep your eyelids and lash line clean by using an oil free foaming cleanser or baby shampoo and your fingers every 2-3 days. If this is not done and excess of dust, oil and dead skin cells can build up on the eyelid making eyes feel itchy or uncomfortable. Our recommended water based can be used over the coating to create more volume or to fill in areas as the coating wears off.
